Construction Process - March 9, 2002

Our Mission: Deliver a truck-load of light fixtures over the weekend.  Nick and I planned to head out mid-afternoon on 3/8.   However, a late winter ice storm was coming through western Nebraska.   We opted to try the "southern route" heading south at York on highway 81 and then taking I70 through Kansas.   The ice caught us just south of York.  After 4 harrowing hours and passing at least 4 serious accidents, we made it to Salina, Kansas where we stopped for the night.

In any case, we delivered the fixtures and detailed installation instructions.

The main entry door is installed.

The railing in the loft is almost finished.

The missing "character log" has been replaced with an absolute monster post.  It is 24" in diameter!

Mike built a overflow pan for the laundry room.

He also got moving on the Australian cypress.  The stairs and heater will be framed with Cypress, with the rest of the floor running north-south.

A few other misc pics.

Lastly, the reason for the trip - the light fixtures stacked and labeled in the basement.
