Construction Process - March 20-26, 2002
The cabin is nearing completion.
The intent is to close on Monday, March 25th. Randy and Steve worked through the weekend to finish the railings; the electricians worked through the weekend to install all the lights (see pics below).
It is coming together nicely. While we still hope to close with the mortgage company Monday, several more weeks of finish detail remain.
Mike Newsome got a good start on the Australian Cypress flooring. It is spectacular, as expected.
Lastly, I apologize for the spots on the photos. The cabin is extremely dusty and unless I remember to clean the lens before every shot, I get the spots.
Exterior shots. Note the main stairs are complete, but still need to be finished.
Australian Cypress and the staircase. There is a temporary railing installed to pass inspection. The permanent railing will take a few more weeks since some parts are still being made.
The main room lights. The Tiffany style lights are absolutely perfect for the place!
Here Barb is positioning a copper sheet around the top of the log to cover the screw jack. Originally, we were planning to use leather, but the copper gives it a nice touch. We'll need to find a longer sheet so it fits all the way around, then decorate it with patterns indented with a nail.
Here is a shot from Nick's room of the ice hanging from the roof line. While this is pretty, ice can become a problem.
Lastly, but certainly not leastly, Barb catches-up on her church bulletin while we wait for the inspections. If you've read the "cabin rules" section, you'll observe that technically Barb is violating the "no electronic devices" guideline; however, we can bend the rules since its not completely finished yet.
