Construction Process - August 31, 2001

The following pictures were taking the weekend of August 30 thru September 2, 2001.   Ben and I camped the entire time.   Thankful will I be when we get hot running water at the site.   We met with several sub contractors including the roofing man (Dennis Miller),  Jerry Miller (excavation), the chimney guy (forgot his name),  Kurt (masonry), Dave (heating system), the well folks, and of course, Henry.

We also explored with Michael Gatt (the land developer)  the possibility of growing our property to 40 acres (at which point some potential forestry conservation tax benefits may be available).

The rock that will be applied to the exposed foundation walls and as the facade on the masonry heater.

This familiar angle shows the partially installed roof.   Dennis Miller, the roofing man, is very detail oriented and takes pride in   his craft.   It shows in the quality of his work.   The color is called "burnished slate", but displays a variety of shades based on lighting conditions.

By our last night, we still had not had a chance to light our campfire.   Unfortunately, by the time we arrived back at the property, it was nearly 11:30 PM.   However, Ben was dead set on enjoying freshly charred marshmellows over the campfire.   Three hours later, Ben (who normally is asleep by 9:30) was going strong.   I did not notice until looking carefully at the pictures, but there are what appear to be two eyes peering back from the forest......

Ben, atop a rock outcropping, known by the kids as "fox rock" and "Vaporian Citidel".   The ribbons were planted by some other "explorers" as a sign of their victory.

The men from Rocky Mountain Pump and Drilling prepare the pump for its journey down the well.
