Logs - Day 2

Day Two started with seven hours of frustration.   The trucking company refused to release the driver to take the truck up the mountain.   Appropriate contingency plans were not in place.   I won't bore you with details, but it had the potential to get ugly.   Fortunately, Gary had a friend - Rick - who had an old rig and was used to navigating rough terrain.   The tractor was also a short wheel-base which made the corners easier (we did not pick up the trailer even once - not even at the job site!)   The only problem was the old rig did not have much power, hence the HUGE Cat loader used to tow the truck up the mountain.   Rick is an outstanding driver and will help us on Day Three too!

The first pic shows the equipment parade coming around one of the switch-backs

Second is the parade on the home stretch - just one more steep grade, but no more turns.

The first floor logs were mostly complete by the end of the day.

Part of the crew: Jonathan, Jim, Rick (hero of the day), and Gary (co-hero of the day for thinking to call Rick)
